Three Product Reviews

I tried out three concealer/foundation products lately (drugstore brands for the makeup budget ppl) and they are: Prestige Skin Loving Minerals Concealer (color: sand); L'OREAL Bare Naturale Mineral Foundation (nude beige); Covergirl Tru Blend Whipped Foundation (445 warm beige).

Prestige Skin Loving Minerals Concealer (3.5/5)

I really like the prestige concealer because it has a good texture and it gives a nice warm glow to the skin. I would purchase this product again because it comes in quite a decent amount of .32 oz and is comparable to L'OREAL's Bare Naturale Concealer which is much smaller. I haven't tried L'OREAL's mineral concealer yet but I did try their foundation - which I love. I think the L'OREAL's minerals are more fine than Prestige's but for the amount you get and the price ($12?), it is a good deal. It works well and it is a 3-in-one so you can use it like finishing powder/foundation as well. The color (sand), goes well with my skin tone. As for covering under eye circles, I use a bit of moisturizer under the eyes then apply the mineral concealer. Sometimes I use a small eyeshadow brush for precision. It covers well, packs on well without looking cakey. Then I use a bigger brush and buff some of the mineral all over my face. The only negative thing about this product is that it requires a little bit more mineral to do a fuller coverage on dark eye circles. Overall I would rate this product a 3.5/5.

L'OREAL Bare Naturale Mineral Foundation (4/5)

Overall this product is amazing. The minerals are fine and they really do make a big difference even with just a small amount. You use less minerals compared to the Prestige one but it is more expensive. The cost for one is around $18 and there's .35 oz per container. The shade is close to my skin tone but the color is not as golden as the Prestige's but still good though. It looks natural and can even cover my under eye circles like a concealer. The coverage is light for eye circles but it works well for days when the eye circles aren't too dark. The product covers freckles and blemishes very well. The downside is the brush that it comes with is very rough. I use my own brush for this product. Overall I would give it a 4/5. Recently I bought a 3-in-one special edition 50% off at London Drugs for only $12.49. It was on sale and I got the last one. I was very happy with it because it came with the foundation in my shade, a blush, and finishing powder.

Tru Blend Whipped Foundation (4/5)

This product almost works like a concealer. The good thing about it is it's available in quite a lot of shades so there's a good chance you'll find your shade in there somewhere. I like how easy it is to apply this foundation (great workable creamy texture!), working it into my skin just with my fingers when I am in a hurry. For more precision I could use a foundation brush but not necessary. I love the smell of it - reminds me of cream or frosting. The downside is the product could look too cakey cause for me it feels like a medium coverage, especially if I decide to apply powder over it. It makes it apparent that I'm wearing the foundation. I usually target only a small area of my face rather than the whole face. It works okay with my under eye circles. If I'm in a hurry I slap some on my eye circles then quickly buff over with the Prestige concealer powder. I think it was less than $10 a jar. I don't usually need foundation so this is perfect for me. It conveniently comes in a small jar and I can use it for a long time- 4/5.

Not Big On Cable? How bout Satellite?

$29.99/month and you get over 150 channels of TV of sports and all sorts of entertainment. Saw this website promoting their satellite channels and made me want to get satellite TV. They're called Directv and I'm not sure if they're only available to the US but you can go to their site and see if there's more info. From what I know of their Direct TV they are convenient. If you order your satellite TV from them they can install it free and let's say you're moving away, you don't even need to take the dish with you. Just give them a call and let them know when and where you're moving to and they'll set up your Directv dish where it needs to be. Best thing is if you get a condo or apartment it will fit on your patio or balcony without being too bulky. I may consider moving into a condo one day. Anyway, just something random to check out on your free time. Here's Direct TV in California, one of the many states they're available in, if you want to get an idea of how they're like.

Cupcakes Will Design Our Wedding Cake...

Cause WE WON! Some of you may know that during the end of the last month of October I submitted a cake design to the Creme de la Creme Cupcakes Contest (<-- see cake design here). Well, that was what all that craze was about spamming y'all to vote on Facebook. And the good news is it all paid off! Thank you guys for voting and for supporting! Those votes got my design into the TOP 5. Out of the top 5 one cake gets picked based on the judging criteria of creativity, originality, and elegance. Here is the contest event if you're curious.

I can taste the waffle cake... : ) This is like a dream come true.

So thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your votes and thanks Creme de la Creme for holding such a creative contest that pushed my creative limits and inspired me to push myself as a designer.

Much thanks - Danielle & Stephen

Bodysuits??

When I first saw this Forever21 body suit I wondered how the heck would someone wear this. I still don't know but I do know for a fact that models on the runway wear something like this with a shawl or trench coat and pumps and voila - that's the oufit. While showing bare legs and lots of it isn't my thing, I think some conservative ways would be to wear a skirt over the body suit. What are your thoughts on this?

Also, I could really use a nice sweater cardigan. And by that I mean a WARM one that doesn't make me itch too much. H&M is either having or had a sale for buy one get one on knits. I got myself two turtle necks for $25 - solid deal and two short sleeved sweaters for $30. Not bad.. but no warm fashionable cardigan.

Chamomile Cleanser - Cleans Deep!

I've been looking for a good cleanser lately and stumbled across this on the YvesRocher.ca website. I make a few skincare and makeup orders here once in a while when they have good deals. I bought the Chamomile Deep Cleansing Gel recently cause it was buy one get one free. For $12 I get two bottles of 200ml cleanser and skin that feels clean and moisturized. My skin is normal to dry and some cleansers leave my skin feeling clean but dry. I think Avon and Mark cleansers don't work that well for me. This one is actually refreshing because of the scent (it's made from organic chamomile) and it feels really good on my face. It feels clean and leaves my skin smooth even before the moisturizing step. I think it's because there's no soap ingredient in this formula. $12 for two bottles. I think it's well worth my money plus they give away free gifts with every order of a certain amount. There is also the same cleanser that is a cleanser-toner 2 in 1 for $12 per bottle. Anyway, just thought I'd share a good cleanser. I'm really loving the smell!
